We are proud of our providers and all the fantastic work they do in our community. Throughout 2018, we’ll continue to feature interviews starting from our newest provider about life outside of the office.

This month, Linda Coverdale, PA-C is our July 2018 Provider of the Month. Linda has been with SERO Group since May 2015 and sees patients at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Learn more about Linda below, where she shares her background, passion and experiences:

I grew up in Yorktown, Virginia surrounded by numerous historical landmarks and coastal shoreline.  Summers were always spent riding the newest attraction at Busch Gardens and Water Country USA or boating out on the Atlantic.  My family had deep roots at Virginia Tech and I felt beyond blessed to be able to share in that tradition.  In 2006 I received my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Human Nutrition Foods and Exercise-Dietetic focus.  I went on to continue my education through a dietetic internship at VCU Health Systems, formerly The Medical College of Virginia (MCV), in Richmond, VA in 2007.  It was during this internship I became more familiar with the Physician Assistant’s role in medicine.  Becoming a PA would allow me to broaden my scope of practice and provide the necessary care and compassion to patients stretching across multiple specialties while working in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.  It also allowed me to practice my love for medicine while maintaining the work life balance I desired.

I had the great privilege of being trained at Duke University where the PA profession began in 1965.  My time there allowed me to meet and train with many highly skilled physicians in all medical disciplines to include emergency medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, behavioral medicine, general surgery, neurosurgery, and dermatology. Two weeks after graduating with my Master of Health Science and obtaining my Physician Assistant Board Certification in 2011 I married my high school sweetheart and love of my life LJ.

I started my life as a PA working at an Urgent Care and Family Medicine Center in Outer Banks, NC.  We moved to Charlotte, NC in 2013 to be closer to family, at which time I transitioned into the field of Oncology.   I feel so honored to work with the most compassionate and patient driven team members I have ever known.  Over the last three years the physicians at SERO have broadened my knowledge on treating the whole patient which is of utmost importance in our field. Cancer truly touches every aspect of a person’s life and I am humbled by the strength I see in our patients every day.

I am the proud mother of two amazing little girls, Brynn (4) and Ashlyn (1), so when I’m not at work they keep me very busy going to the pool, playing on the playground, riding bikes, building forts, playing dress up and just being silly.  Growing up on the coast we love taking trips to the beach but we also enjoy camping in the mountains of NC. My husband is a pinball fanatic, so we own three classic machines and play often.  We love supporting the local breweries, relaxing with the newest brew when we can on the weekends. We are currently building our dream home in Denver, NC and look forward to the joys and challenges that will bring us.  Our home will be on two acres of land which will allow our family pup, Lola, lots of room to run and explore. As our children get older we hope to travel abroad but also on our bucket list is a cross country RV trip. I love my family and friends and look forward to many years of fellowship and fun before retiring, hopefully at the beach!
